Well, I am about at my wits end on this one. Here it goes. I have a strange charging system woe. My 240 keeps dying on me. Here are the details. I connect my volt meter to the battery and watch it slowly drain after starting the car... starts at 12.5 volts and drains down through 10 in a matter of a few minutes. I have to keep re-connecting the jumper cables to keep it alive. Well, I already changed the alternator and the battery, so I know they are not involved. Also, when I connect the volt meter to the alternator side, it reads 13.9 volts at idle, so it is putting out just fine. I unbolted what I thought was the engine ground wire and cleaned it (is it the one just below the alternator that connects to the bottom of the engine? Or a different one?) No go. I really think it is a ground problem, because it just drains so fast. Please, any help to keep my 240 alive would be GRATELY appreciated! Thanks in advance!
