FRONT STRUTS LEAK OIL AND GROAN ... 700 1987

Any suggestions on what brands to stick with in replacing my two front struts? I was thinking of replacing the top strut bearings as well (from IPD)as mine have 205,000 miles on them and they groan while turning (or maybe that's just me that's groaning, thinking of the money I'll have to put into the car --- again).

If I decided to put in the aftermarket strut tower braces from IPD, would that alter which brand of struts I should put in, i.e. Bilsteins vs. Boge vs. Koni ?? Any suggestions on the least expensive place to buy these? And, FINALLY, is this a weekend-mechanic job, or should I have a garage put them in?
