dashboard lights out 700 1989

I'm new to the list. I have an '89 740 wagon with all the dashboard lights out. My mechanic says there's juice going to the light switch. He thinks it's the circuit board that covers the back of the instrument cluster. I don't see how they could all be affected. Anybody have any opinions? Thanks in advance.
