90-240 mountain driving 200 90

Hey board,

I just completed a round trip sacramento to Reno and return.

Ever hear the story of the little tug boat who thought he could. "I think I can","I know I can". Well that was my 240 going over the sierra nevada mountain.

My car performed very well, within its power limitations. Its running smother than when I left. Blew it out really good.

The one thing that buggged me was the gear changing on hills.

Its an automatic, and on the steep slopes it would down shift gain speed and then after awhile upshift, then loose speed then downshift etc. I know I can downshift manually. But what is the limitation here. what is the top speed for 2nd? The car acts like there is no limitation. It keeps right on gaining speed. Where should I top out at?
