1,300rpm idle after 150mi trip 200 1989

This is the second time this has happened to me. After driving on a 150 mile r/t, when arriving home, I put my car in park (auto tranny), and noticed the engine idling at around 1,200-1,300rpm. Next day, turned her on, and she had a normal idle (700-900).

It didn't do this on the first stretch of the trip yesterday. The car drives absolutely fine with no quirks. Is this something serious?
