760 Tranny Shudder 700 1989

This is an add-on to a previous post about a shudder/vibration at the rear of the tranny on a 760 after changing the tranny mount and power flushing. The motor mounts are recently changed (4-6 months).

OK, folks, I'm going to try and replace the tailshaft bushing and seal to see if this will solve my vibration/shudder. I've talked to lots of people and nobody has a real clue where the problem is. I've shimmed the center bearing 3/8" and that didn't fix it, now I'm going for the tailshaft bushing. Worst case is it doesn't fix it but it was sloppy as heck anyway and needed replacement. I'd guess there is about 1/8 - 1/4" slop between the shaft and the bushing.

One guy at IPD says it has to be the torque converter, another guy there says the first guy is blowing smoke. I'm going to get the kit from ipd because they rent the nice tool that lets you replace it without removing the tailshaft housing.

If anyone has any great illuminating ideas, now would be a great time to throw them out before I order the parts tomorrow.
