Bilsteins on an IRS car 700 1988

I've seen somebody's conversion from Nivomat to regular on the 700/900 maintenance board (actually, I'd like to dialogue with you if you are on this BB), but an curious if anybody has left the Nivomats and installed Bilsteins on the front? If so, was the shock imbalance bad? Do it again?

On another note, just how stiff did a '88 760 turbo ride when new? This is the first 7 series I've ever road in and it feels a little soft all the way around, but more so in the rear. One side of the Nivomats leaks down more rapid than the other, but they still get to ride height quickly when driving. Obviously, with 13 year old shocks there will be some improvement with new shocks, but I'm really not sure how much. Did the 760 turbo come with the same front end set up as a 740 turbo? Or was it just a cushy ride with a more powerful engine?
