I have an '80 242GT with a B21F. Don't drive it very often and it could be in a lot better shape (blame the previous owner).
I changed the timing belt a few months ago and it hasn't run very well since. I checked the marks and everything seemed right on. I finally got a TB cover (didn't have one before) and checked the timing marks. It barely idled at 800 rpm (supposed to be 8 degrees at 800 rpm), but when we got it near it, it was at 30 degrees! Turning the distributor clockwise as far as it would go only brought the thing down to 20 degrees. Found one loose vaccuum hose and fixed it, but everything else looks ok.
Any ideas? Should I pull the TBC again and then realign all the marks? Perhaps advance the distributor gear a bit? I'm a bit lost.
Thing is real hard to start and doesn't idle very well. Thx.
