Oil Filters for the B230 900 93

Loyal Volvophiles!!

I can get a Fram filter at Walmart for $4.89, and do so, because the dealer charges $9.00 for the Volvo part. I change the oil religiously at 3k, with Valvoline or Castrol GTX, viscosity 10W-30.

What's wrong with the Fram filter? Is it really that bad? Am I doing damage to my car?

Is the Mann filter exactly the same as the Volvo part? I am preparing to order the Mann filter in bulk through FCPGroton for about $33.00 a case, or the Volvo genuine article for about $5.00 each from Swedish Engineering.
