Can the tail lights be updated? 700 1988

I have an '88 760 Turbo that has the original cube pattern tail lights. I was wondering if it is possible to switch those out for the newer (early 90s) tail lights? Also, I noticed that the newer ones are wider on the 760's than the 740's....would I have to use the 740 shorter style light housing because my current tail lights are that width? - Mike
