If I mislead someone on their heated seats in CA, I'd like to clarify.
There are two types of heated seats, one setting and two settings...generally the two setting version is on the 760/960 or maybe some special versions of 940, unknown.
Anyway, the single setting has a thermostat, one for each seat, set at 78F according to the Volvo service manual. Above that temp the seat won't go on even thought the switch will light.
On the dual heat models, there isn't a thermostat..volvo calls it an overtemperature switch, one for each seat, in the same manual...could there be diffo writers? Seems to me an overtemperature switch is the same as a thermostat/thermoswitch!
Anyway, the manual didn't specify what the overtemp switch is set at, which jibes with my experience on the 760...if it's on, your butt gets hot even in the summer! On the 740, it just gets warm early in the morning with cold temperatures.
