Hi All,
I recently replaced the brake master cylinder (MC) on our 83 245 GL with a new Ate MC I purchased from BAP-Geon.
During the install I bench bled the MC, then power-bled the entire system per the Bentley manual--no bubbles, no crud, nice clean fluid through-out. Unfortunately, I've been a little disappointed to find the "feel" of the new MC somewhat soft--with the old one, the brake pedal used to be pretty hard w/o much travel; with the new one, it's noticeably softer and seems to have a little more travel prior to engaging. Not necessarily bad, but a definite change--even my bride remarked on the difference.
Before I go back in and re-bleed the system, I was just wondering if there may have been a change in MC spec's (bore/piston diameter?) in the last 10-15 years? Or perhaps there's a difference between the Ate part carried by the dealer and the one available through the aftermarket? Any insights would be greatly appreciated.
Do Good!
