Any ideas on the following: my 1989 740 GL with a B230F misses briefly when cold. The problem resolves after 30 seconds and after reving the engine a little. Recent work includes a new idle air control valve; a new fuel system temperature sensor; new throttle position switch. Car ran fine after all this for several weeks. Incidentally, my coolant was 2 quarts low and I see a slight coolant leak at the bottom of the head near the #1 cylinder, but when I warm the engine and pressure test the cooling system it holds pressure fine. I also looked at the plugs, which look normal, and looked through the plug hole at the tops of pistons 1, 2, and 3 which do not seem unusually clean. I could not see the #4 piston. The engine does not overheat. There is no oil floating in the plastic coolant container and no coolant on the dipstick. Despite the obvious I do not think its a head gasket, at least I hope not. Any thoughts? Thanks! Ed Moor.
