It only requires a bang or two on the side of the center console in the area of the ashtray/radio to be able to get the car to start again. Used to be an intermittent thing, happening once every few months.

But it happens every time now. Car starts fine. Turn radio on, car instantly dies. Turn radio off. Bang on console. Start car with no problems. Turn radio on, car instantly dies, etc. If you leave the radio turned on after the car dies, it refuses to start - until you turn it off, and bang on the console. Does not happen with any other electrical component or switch.

I don't think it can have anything to do with the fuel injection relay, an obvious suspect due to the symptoms and location. I've swapped the old relay out with a new one from the wife's 740, and I get the same result. My only other guess is that something's gone bad with my radio - wiring's shorting out with FI system wires, or ????

Any advice or thoughts would be most appreciated. A silent 30 minute drive to work turns from contemplative to eery faster than you'd think...
