I've got a 1988 745Ti in seemingly good condition. I was told it starts fine but doesn't start when hot. A timing belt was suggested. So, I bought it for $300.oo.
I just replaced the injection resistor ballast with a newer one. The car has spark, It turns over. I smell gas when attempting to start but it doesn't fire.
I've checked and cleaned the grounds in the engine bay. I haven't taken the distributor apart yet. I'm wondering, could this be a bad Hal sensor keeping it from starting? I sispected the sensor for the not starting when hot problem but I wasn't sure abou the not starting at all problem.
I removed two alarm systems. I was concerned about the one system with wires marked "valet/override" which lead to two relays. the wires went to what looked like a factory factory prewired harness. Below is a sketch of what I'm talking about. does it look like a jumpered wires were disconected to install the override switch wires which are now cut?
Thanks
Richard
