I have a 90 740 with girling ABS brakes. A week after I bought the car the brakes on the front right side started to raddle when I hit even small bumps. The raddle would go away if the brakes were applied at all. I pulled the wheel off and noticed that one of the spring/clips that keep the brake pad from raddling had broken off, the pads were still almost 1/2" thick. I also noticed that the caliper piston retracted almost 1/4" when the brake pedal was released, which it didn't seem to do on the other front side. About a week later the clip broke off of the other brake pad on the right side. Is it normal for the piston to retract that far back from the pad? Is that why those clips broke off, is there something wrong with my brake system?
Thanks in advance
Nathan
