Garrett Turbo OUT, Mitsu IN: can do? 700 86

Hey! Y'all have been so helpful, I thought that I would seek hints, past experiences, or even a "can't do dat". I have a Garrett T3 turbo on the so-far VERY dependable TurboDiesel wagon, second-hand, now with +/- 215k miles on her (Brunhilde), 50,000 of those are MY miles. Engine was rebuilt by PO at 90,000 miles. Black smoke at acceleration, otherwise no symptoms or complaints. It ain't broke, I ain't fixin' it: I just want to be ready when the day comes that Mr. Garrett dies. So: is a Mitsubishi turbo a drop-in swap, or are there any adapters, mods, or cautions to heed? Also, your experiences w/good-or-great turbo folks. I think that a local (D.C.) dealer gets $695 for a Mitsu, doesn't sound out-of-sight to me, but then what do I know? A good local mech can guide me thru the in-stall. New oil return line? O-rings? Any and all help MUCH appreciated. (BTW: sometimes we get carried away, I am as guilty as anyone: for the most part, 99.9%, it's all in fun. Computers still boggle my mind: I am 'chatting' with people from around the world, and we 99.9% get along just fine, right? Let us hope that that very same spirit of international friendship, goodwill, and HUMOR will carry us over the bumps ahead. I have friends who are Muslim, Jew, Jain, Druze, Christian, Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh, and we are APPALLED at what goes in thew world, supposedly under the guise of religion or Divine guidance. I can only think that right now, God is weeping over his childrens' insanities. Peace, my friends)--PD.
