Temp&Fuel Gauge stopped 200 89

O.K. I got the &#@^&**)+#! overdrive indicator light to work correctly-it was wired wrong!.When I put it back together,the fuel gauge didn't work.I took it apart again to see if something was loose.It wasn't. This time when I got it back together,the temp gauge dropped like stone. What stupid thing did I do or miss, or do I need new ones???
