Problems with overdrive (5th gear) 700 1987

I need some help here:

I have a 1987 740 volvo with 4 speed standard transmision (with 5th gear overdrive). This 5th gear can only be engaged when it 4th gear as it should and it is located on top of the gear shifter nob.

The problem lies here, the overdrive comes in by pressing the nob in any gear (i.e. 1, 2, 3,) even reverse! I checked the solenoid, and it is working fine, replaced the overdrive switch on top of the transmision and i also inspected the overdrive relay and i cannot see any physical damage or loose wires. After all of this checking the problem is still occuring.
