DIESEL SMOKES BAD 700 1985

Here's something for a Diesel enthusiast:

I abought an 85 740 with 144000 miles.Engine is D24T.

It smokes very bad and makes clonging noise.

When I disengage the A/C, smoking stops almost complete.

Noise stays. I am thinking that one/or more injectors are bad.

Putting in 1 quart of ATF made the smoking problem little better.

What am I looking for in USD replacing them ?

Is it difficult to do, because living in El Paso,Tx means......sorry we don't fix Diesel Engines !
