240 vs. British automobiles 200 1993

Why is it that I see more '70s and '80s Volvos on the road today than the old British cars of yesteryear? I see more elderly 140, 1800, and 240 series cars being driven much more so than aged Triumphs, Healeys or Jensens. Is it because Volvo built better cars than the English and neglected to use Lucas systems?
