HEater Core Removal Shortcuts...? 200 86&78

Summer is near over up here in Canada (the great White North), and I have to replace the heater cores in BOTH my Volvos.

One is an 87 245, the other is my dear 78 242 stubblejumper.

Has anyone any shortcuts for removal and retrofitting of the heater core?

The previously posted shortcuts for removing the heater fan motor proved invaluable.
