coolant temp sensor 200 1990

My check engine light is on and I the error says faulty temp signal. I am betting the sensor is bad 230k miles. Where is it located and how much does a new sensor cost? Side note. the car will start and die. then will restart very easily and usually stay running. I am thinking there is a realationship between the sensor and the stalling problem. what do you think?
