what is the story behind the different rear ends????????? 200 1978

When, why, and where did some 240's have not 5 or 6 panel tail lights

but they had a compleatly different trunk, tail lights, trunk latch, and a

hood style light on the trunk lid? I have always wanted to figure out this mystery. Also is this rear end rarer/more valuable?
