My wifes car is a 1993 940 Turbo wagon.
The engine dies after starting in cool weather unless throttle is held up.
The eng hesitates badly (1-2 secs) when the throttle is blipped open.
I've cleaned the throttle body already.
Computer sends codes for lean/rich fuel mixture and intermittently for the airflow mass meter.
When following the car, I see black smoke out the tail pipe when under light acceleration.
The power seems to be lacking and the turbo boost gauge does not go as far to the right as it used to.
I can't find any leaks in the big air hoses that run between the MAF sensor, intercooler, and the throttle body.
I was told it might be the O2 sensor.
From what I've learned abt GM fuel inj systems, the O2 sensor is ignored until the coolant temp comes up. If Volvo fuel inj is the same, I believe I could rule that out since it dies at idle when it's still cold.
Seems to me that the airflow mass meter needs replacement. I've priced them at the dealership. WOW!
Anyone have any other ideas?
Anyone have experience with online parts houses that would have such a part?
Thx,
John
