Finally replaced cooling system components: the radiator, all hoses, heater control valve, and thermostat. I had the parts for several months, but just found the time last weekend. The car now has a new 3-core Nissens that should last for quite some time. I bought smooth, non perforated hose clamps from a Napa dealer. This was my first such job, and information from Brickboard was invaluable: the 700/900 FAQs and responses to an earlier post of mine (last June) from Steve Ringlee and L.K. Tucker. I now have a couple of things to pass to other novices like me in case it might be of some help. First, be extra careful threading the transmission cooler lines on to the studs on this type radiator. They are easy to strip; I know. Second, when installing the heater hose at the fitting under the intake manifold, pull the flame trap and the short hose attached to the bottom of the trap first. This will help with access to the hose fitting and lining up the hose clamp; the work space is minimal and too small for my hands otherwise. These two things gave me a bit a bit of grief and lost time, before I figured it out. I also used the upper strut braces on this car to support a wood platform that I used to lie over the engine and work on heater hoses and heater valve.
