Hey board,
I replaced the fuel pump and the filter. solved my fuel delivery problem.
But I still dont know, conclusively, whether the problem was with the pump or the filter.
The pump I was running was not a volvo pump. It was a generic kind of pump that I paid about 100 bucks for(new)3 years ago. I think it came from "car quest"
The pump had been groaning for a couple of months at least. However, I checked the intank pump and it appears to be working. I did note a bunch of crud that came out of the filter and lines when I opened things up.
I guess what Im trying to figure out is what failed, and to make sure the replacement pump doesnt suffer the same fate.
Are there any other steps that i should take?
The pump that I just put on the car is a volvo pump. Its been sitting on the shelf for about 3 years. It has about 114,000 miles on it. It delivered the goods immediately(well, there was a slight delay while pressure built up).
Thanks
