I posted a couple of days ago about our 245 with 225,000 miles on it not starting. We had been getting some fuel pump noise and it left us sitting 2 hours from home once this summer (waited an hour, started up and ran fine), and on Sunday it was 30 deg F and it wouldn't start for my wife.
I pulled the front spark plug, grounded it, and got spark. I then pulled the fuel line off the injector rail, had my wife crank the engine, and no fuel. Couldn't hear the pumps running while cranking it either (from inside the car).
In response to my previous post, several people mentioned the fuel pump relay. I thought I'd try that first, and ordered one from our local independant parts store for $43., will be here tomorrow. I looked for the location of the relay in my Haynes and Bentley service manuals, and one said it was by the fuse panel, the other by the glovebox. Didn't see it in either location (without ripping off interior panels). Anyone know where the fuel pump relay is located on a 1990 245?
To sum up:
1. Where is the fuel pump relay on a 1990 245?
2. What to look for if the relay doesn't fix it?
Thanks,
Keith Miller
