ecu upgrades/interchangable? 700 1990

I have a 1990 740 non turbo b230f volvo. My ecu is a bosch p/n 0-280-000-556. Does anyone know of upgrades to this ecu & where I could have it done? Also would you know where I can find info. to check which ecu's are interchangable? Tks. Peter Boe
