Leaking oil cap 700 87

Folks

I know there's been traffic on this should-be simple problem, but..... I'm blowing oil by the filler cap on my '87 740. The flame trap is clean. The oil trap appears to be clean; I can blow air freely through all three ports. Could this be a deceptive test, i.e. it's clogged despite this free flow of air? I replaced the gasket on the filler cap already. Any suggestions on where else to look?
