I just spent several hours replacing a water pump on a 1981 265 GLE (V6 engine). The "new" pump is a rebuilt unit rebuilt by A1-Cardone.
After the engine warms up and the cooling system builds pressure, water pours from the weep hole at the bottom of the pump. It drips about 1/2 cup per minute when the engine is idling. (When it's off, it doesn't leak. I can pump the cooling system up to 25psi, and still nothing leaks.)
I don't think I can expect the seal to heal itself, so I'll have to replace the pump again. The problem is, I waited all summer with the replacement pump sitting in the box before I started the work. That probably means the pump warranty is void by now.
Anyway, I thought I would check here in case someone has a replacement pump they might have purchased and then decided not to use. -- OR, does anyone have a better idea of where to get a replacement pump?
Thanks much,
Adam
