brake lights out 200 1990

I own a 1990 240DL, and the brake lights don't work. over the life of the car I have replaced the brake light switch fout times but this time the switch is not the problem. I have power to the switch and the fuse. I pulled other lamps within the lighting system and the lamp out sensor is working. Is there something else to check? any suggestions?
