compressin question for 740 700 88

I'm trying to get my 88 745i to start, I'm not sure what the touble is. It cranks, has spark and fuel. It turns over slowly. My friend noticed that there is no pressuer oming from the tail pipe, however the ar may need a manifordgasket. Does this dd up to no compression? Bad cam? How bad doe ths sound so far?
