Warning... timing belt tensioner faillure 200 82

Warning,

Is this happening to me only or is this common?

Last november I installed a new timing belt tensioner I got from an autopart store. The only thing writen on it is : 190274-1 Germany.

I drove back from Quebec City last night at 115-125 km/hour without noticing anything.

This morning I was preparing to re-adjust the breaker point opening to get about 60° dwell. There was this loud noise around the belts; it was the timing belt tensioner that was severely shot after less than 25000 km of use. I am sure it could not have lasted more than 50km. It is about jamming.

I have a 240 DL 1982 with Solex carb.

Tomorrow I am purchasing a OEM Volvo tensioner to fix this.

I used to replace this part at about 150-200k km with OEM, but last november I though I could save some money by using jobber parts…

I think about what would happen if the tensioner jams totally…

Anybody know a brand name of good quality timing belt tensioner?
