I have read in the FAQ that the Heater Control Valve is a known weak point on an older Volvo. So ... I am going to replace it, as the car currently has 176kMi, and I see no record of it being replaced before. I am taking NO chances with this stuff, as I live in Arizona, and it takes about a minute to cook an engine with this heat.
What is a good alternative to the inherently weak Volvo part? My parts source (www.thepartsbin.com) sells an aftermarket Four Seasons unit, which supposedly uses a metal body, versus the plastic body. The cost is good too, $16 vs. $50 for the OEM part. I see that IPD is picturing an all metal part on their website, who is the manufacturer on that?
Or, should I just get an OEM piece, after all, this one has held up for 175kMi (AFAIK)!!
Thanks in advance,
Greg
