The engine turnes over slowly on some occasions, fine at other times, independent of hot/cold etc. Slow cranking usually results in higher than normal RPMs when it catches, returns immediately to 750-800 RPM. Battery fine. It kind of reminds me of my 73 V6 capri would not always reset its vacuum advance. Also, last PM the car was very sluggish and rough (for the first time ever!). I had to really push the pedal hard to get over 30MPH. Ran the engine up to 4K RPM, situation solved.
Is there a vacuum advance-type mechanism? I read the FAQ and assume that my 87 GLE must have the hall system. It was stated that the distributer, which was what I thought may be the problem, has no impact on timing. Any ideas?
The loss of power is singular, however earlier in the day on the Hutchinson River Parkway, I noticed a dead spot when I was accelerating.
Also, I just squeaked by on the NOx part of the emissions test, last year the car passed with ease, are these symptoms related??
2 or more problems?
I do hear more induction noise than previously when accelerating, could the tube that leads to the TB have a hole, AMM problem?
Trying HARD to justify 2 Volvos
Thanks for your help.
