seat fabric off metal 200 1989

I have an 1989 244DL. The foam on the inside of the fabric that is supposed to be against the metal seat rail has slipped off and there is now an awful metal post against my back were the soft foam is supposed to be.... how can I get the seat back in the right place without tearing the fabric???
