Flame trap relocation kit. 200 1984

I just got my flame trap relocation kit for my 84 244 dl and I need to know how get the old one off and the kit on. It came with instructions but I am sure that all of you who have done this before know of a good way to get to the parts. It does not look like I have much room to get my hands down to the breather box. I know where the parts connect, I just don't know the best way to get to them or what tools would help me. If anyone knows a short cut or has advice it would be greatly appreciated.
