Fuel Pressure Regulator 700 1985

Hi all,

Earlier this week the fuel pressure regulator failed on my 85 740 GLE. I replaced it today, along with an oil change and new oil filter. The car started and there is now a lot of white smoke coming out of the tailpipe. Prior to the failed FPR there was no smoke. Could this just be from leftover gas in the engine or moisture from the gas evaporating?
