Hi,
I bought a 1993 940 not too long ago and have a couple of strange things going on and don't know what to make of it.
1. When backing up the car from a parked position, then turning the steering wheel a hard left, there is some sort of thump-thump sound coming from what seems like the right wheel. It's almost as if the wheel has locked and is dragging itself or something. It does this with or without the brakes pressed.
2. I just had rotors and brake pads put on the other day. I've had no reason to really step on the brakes until today. I was going about 20mph and made a sudden stop by slamming the brakes. The antilock brakes seemed to kick in but I think one of the front tires skidded. It also make a loud sound. So, I decided to test out the antilock brakes. I made a couple more hard stops. Each time the frpnt brakes made a LOUD moaning sound, the same sound that my 79 240 with disc brakes makes when you first press on the brakes after going through a car wash. By the way, it is raining out. Besides the loud moaning sound, and the front brakes seeming possibly lock, the front-end does a quick pull to the left. I don't feel anything going on with the back brakes, they seems quiet, and I don't even notice any pulsating from the brakes.
3. One other thing, there has been a couple of times when I was coming to a full stop and just before I stopped I would run over a small pot hole or bump, and the front left brakes started to pulsate rapidly for a short time.
Is there something wrong with the antilock brake system? No ABS light comes on, on the dash as if something was failing.
Any ideas?
Thank you.
