On my 92 745t with 129,000 miles I hear a faint metallic rattling noise when I let off the gas pedal. The harder I accelerate and faster I let off the pedal, the louder the noise. Pretty sure this noise is coming from the CBV or the wastegate on the Mitsu TDO4H turbo. The car has made this noise since purchased about 21,000 miles ago. It is not getting worse and I have not discovered anything noticably lose or abnormal around the turbo (wastegate accurator rod has no visible play and the CBV attachment bolts are tight, vacuum and water lines okay).
I do not think this noise is foreshawding any immediate turbo death. I have a foggy memory of a post some time ago about a similar noise being the result of normal wear. A little reassurace or the truth from more experienced bricksters would be appreciated.
