Voltage readings at o2 sensor jump 0.1 vlts. when lights are turned on 700 1988

88 765 B230FT, In anticipation of installing a A/F meter (LED), I hooked up my DVM to the o2 sensor (soldered conection 18" from sensor) and to ground (direct to battery). While cruising steady on highway (after 1/2 hour) the DVM read around .48v with slight changes +- 0.02v. I figured the O2 sensor was shot, it could be 13 yrs old, I don't know. Now the strange (to me) part, I turned on the headlights and the reading jumped to about .58v, so I turn on the heater fan full and the reading jumps to .62v. My charging system and batt work perfectly, (no dim lights at idle, cranks great, charges at about 14.5 v).
Are these readings telling me that my o2 sensor is shot?

I guess the good news is that the readings remain pretty much the same under light(cruising) and heavy(14 psi boost@5500) load so I don't think its leaning out. Sound right?

Thanks
