Value -- 1988 Volvo 740 Turbo ?

Our project car, a 1988 740 Turbo has been totaled in an accident -- 11 months / 15,000 miles after completion of major work. We purchased this very clean rust free car with a damaged engine. Work performed: rebuilt engine (pistons, bearings & head, water pump, distributor), electric fan and brake system (Volvo rotors, calipers, pads, hoses) The tires were two weeks old.

Thanks to Volvo quality and good luck, my son and his car pool passengers were not inured. The other party failed to yield from a stop sign and struck the left front.

I need the help of other Volvo enthusiasts to establish the value for this vehicle. This is a liability claim against the other insurance company so I do not need to be concerned with the terms and limitations of first party collision damage insurance - I need to establish the reasonable value of the vehicle: Fair market value (willing buyer / seller) or replacement cost with like kind and quality.

I am looking for comparable recent sales of a similar car in similar condition, or other ideas to rationally establish its value

Repair costs are well over $5,000 with several open items.

The insurance company has offered $3,810.00

I have suggested a settlement that is based upon the book value of the car, plus the prorated value of the major items of repairs. (87% of the cost of parts cost of the engine and brake system), $7,200.00

Does any one know of a recent fair market sale / purchase of a similar car that has been substantially rebuilt?
