My 1986 740 GLE (B230F engine) has a specific starting problem in cold weather. If I simply turn the key it will crank but will not start. I have to put the key in the ignition, turn it to position 2 (where the radio will play) and wait until the dashboard lights all appear. Then I can turn the key all the way and the car starts no problem. The length of time it takes for the dashboard lights to appear is proportional to the cold outside (i.e. colder outside = longer wait for lights).
Does anyone have any idea what the problem may be and how I can go about fixing this? A computer problem maybe? Fuel pump initalization problem?
Any help would be greatly appreciated; thanks!
