Heater Fan Noise 200 1981

I just had a heater core installed in my '81 264 GLE. The shop professed to know Volvos, but that turned out to be a lie. Anyhow, the heater works, but in the top two fan speeds, the fan clicks as though it's hitting something. I refuse to let the shop touch my car again. Is there anything I can reasonably do about the problem, or should I just learn to live with it?
