Installing retractable Seatbelts in an older 144 140-160 1970

My 70 144 has the original fixed seatbelts. I believe the later 144's (74?) and 240's had the retractable seatbelts. Can later 144 or 240 belts be installed in a older 144 without any major modifications? Are the early 140/240 retractable belts any good?

P.S. Love this new board layout (expect the font size is too small), but it's too bad you need a login ID & password. What a hassle.
