Strange intensive noise on the rear when the speed is around 60 MPH. 200 1987

Hello, all Volvo gurus and enthusiasts!

I've been driving my Volvo 240DL Wagon 1987 for already three years (after the previous owner) and been happy so far. But starting from some time, I mentioned that there appeared an intensive noise at the rear. It's strange but intensivity of the noise increases as the speed is approaching 60 MPH. But if the speed increases, the noise starts to diminish, and around 70-75 MPH my Volvo sounds pretty much normally, that is like it should be for a car of such an age. Looks like there presents some resonsnce effect. Relatevely recently, a year ago, I replaced the muffler with a third-party one. The catalytic converted (I suspect) has not been replaced since the last owner.

Any ideas? I'd appreciate any advise.

Sincerely,
Dmitriy.
