soaked driver-side footwells and cruise control? 200 1988

I posted a question about ten days ago concerning a swamped driver's side--mostly in the footwell behind the driver's seat. I got a lot of good replies, but none of them fixed my problem. Well, I took it to a very good body shop and it turned out to be coming in through the firewall right where the cruise control cables go through--this is right under where the hood release is. There is an area there in front of the firewall where a decent amount of water can pool up. Apparently, the factory was supposed to drain a small hole in the sheetmetal to allow this water to drain out but they didn't (not on mine, anyway). So instead the water came right in with the cruise control cables and flooded the driver's side. The body shop guy drilled a little hole and no more leaks! I looked at my other 240 which doesn't have cruise control (and hasn't had any water leak problems), and there's a nice little rubber plug there where the cruise control cables would have come in. Very amusing. Anyway, hope this made sense and helps someone with the same problem.
