Green button/switch on dashboard 140-160 1968

My recently acquired 1968 144 has a green button the same size and shape as the red emergency flasher button. I don't know what it does - well nothing happens when I push it. The car is a rally car and the PO did lots of rewiring, so it mightn't be original. Any ideas welcome, before I get out the multimeter and trace it all.
