sensor mounted to trans?? HOW DOES IT WORK NEED HELP!! WIRES GO TO TOP OF VALVE COVER????!! 200 1982

i think my stall problem may be the sensor on the trans, but i followed the wires off it. the wires just go to a tiny black box on top of the valve cover with a plastic cover??? how does this do anything? it does not plug into anything or am i missing a wire that goes to something. thanks
